If you live in Dudley, you already know the trick of this place. The town itself is small, about 718 people last count, and the useful stuff sits on either end of a twenty-mile stretch of US-80. Late summer is when that stretch gets busy again. Football is back, the farmers market still has tomatoes worth stopping for, and the weekday dinner options get more attention because everyone is tired of grilling.
Below is a working rhythm for the next few weekends, written for people who already live here and just want the current details in one place.
The corridor is the neighborhood
Dudley's daily life happens on US-80. Northwest Laurens Elementary sits at 3330 US-80, roughly a minute from the middle of town, and the middle and high schools that feed the Raiders live farther west toward Dexter. Downtown Dublin is a quick east-bound drive. Allentown is a slightly longer west-bound one. Once you accept that your errands, your Friday nights, and your Saturday mornings are all on the same road, planning the week gets easier.
The mistake is treating Dudley as a self-contained town. It isn't. The pleasure of living here is that you get to pick which end of US-80 to point the truck at.
Friday nights start in Dexter
The West Laurens Raiders open their 2026 season at home against Bleckley County on August 21. That is a rebuilding year on paper. Last fall the team went 13-1, winning 13 games in a row before falling to Jefferson in the state semifinals, and Head Coach Kip Burdette has been open with reporters about the youth on the roster this time around.
For Dudley families, the practical piece is that the stadium is at 3692 GA-257 in Dexter, about sixteen minutes from the center of town. Kickoff traffic on GA-257 backs up more than it used to, so if you have a first-grader tagging along, plan to leave forty-five minutes before the whistle. Concessions still take cash faster than card.
The rest of the fall home slate is the routine you already know. Region play tightens up in October, and by November everyone in the parking lot is talking playoff seeding again.
Saturday mornings on Madison
The Downtown Dublin Farmers Market runs at Market on Madison, 314 West Madison Street. A few details worth pinning to the fridge:

- Hours: Every Saturday, 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM
- Scale: more than 30 vendors each week and about 350 patrons during peak produce season
- What you'll actually find: local and organic produce, artisan foods, farm-raised eggs, meat, raw honey, and preserves
The season is roughly ten more Saturdays from early August. If you have been coasting on grocery-store tomatoes, this is the window where the pepper, okra, and late-summer melon vendors are still set up. The market skews earlier as the season goes on. By 11:30 the best produce tables are picked over, and by noon the vendors are folding tables.
One footnote most out-of-town shoppers miss: the site itself is a park. Market on Madison has walking trails, a creek with a bridge, and an open-air pavilion on more than two acres. If you have kids who lose interest in produce shopping in under six minutes, that buys you the rest of your list.
Two food stops that bracket the week
Most Dudley households do their weekday cooking at home and eat out once or twice. Two places are worth knowing about at opposite ends of US-80.
Company Supply, downtown Dublin. At 107 West Jackson Street, next to Jackson Plaza, this is the New Orleans-influenced kitchen that has quietly become downtown's anchor restaurant. New Orleans native Richard Mascaro and his wife Colby opened the doors in 2015 in the restored F.W. Woolworth building next to Jackson Plaza. The kitchen leans Cajun and Creole with a Southern spin. Catfish Perdu, Crawfish Étouffée, and Grits and Grillades are the signatures, along with what the restaurant calls the freshest oysters in Middle Georgia and a rotating 16-tap craft beer list. If you want live music with dinner, acts play Thursdays during dinner and Fridays and Saturdays from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and there is a Saturday and Sunday brunch on the schedule.
A&A Restaurant & Grocery, Allentown. At 803 US-80, this is the place locals call "Miss Ann's" or, if you phone ahead, "The Chicken Place." The locals call it "Miss Ann's," the phone book used to list it as "A&A Restaurant," and when you call, the phone gets answered "The Chicken Place". It is a small counter-service diner with a grocery attached, serving hand-pattied burgers, fried chicken, catfish, and a Sunday buffet. Two practical warnings. First, it is cash only, and the hamburgers are hand-pattied, so don't expect a card reader or a two-minute lunch. Second, if you are new to it, everyone in the room will look up when you walk in because everyone knows everyone. That is not hostility. That is Allentown.
The two restaurants make a nice pair. Company Supply is the special-occasion or Friday-after-the-game move. A&A is the Saturday-morning-coming-home-from-the-market move, or a weekday lunch stop if you happen to be heading toward Macon.
A late-summer week, in order
If you want a template for the next several weeks, this is roughly what the good ones look like:
- Wednesday. Take stock of what is in the fridge. Decide whether Saturday is a market run or a Kroger run. If you want tomatoes worth the drive, it is a market run.
- Friday, 6:30 p.m. Leave for Dexter. Park at the far lot to avoid the postgame crawl. Home opener is Aug. 21 against Bleckley County.
- Saturday, 8:00 a.m. Get to Market on Madison before the early vendors thin out. Bring a cooler if you are buying eggs or meat.
- Saturday, 9:30 a.m. Coffee somewhere downtown, then home.
- Saturday night or Friday after the game. Company Supply if you want a real dinner out. Reserve on Friday nights during football season, because Dublin fills up.
- Sunday afternoon. If you skipped cooking, A&A's Sunday buffet is west on US-80.
Not every week needs all of it. The point is that the corridor gives you options that a town of 718 could never sustain on its own, and the calendar between mid-August and mid-October is when those options are most active.
